Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet

Last week was our Pack's Blue and Gold Banquet, another fun Cub Scouting first for Collin. It was a "Happy Birthday, BSA" theme, so there were lots fun party decorations and a great taco salad dinner. Collin earned his football belt loop and pin and to get them, his dad had to pick him up to reach a balloon they had been tied to hanging way up high on the wall. He also earned his Bobcat badge and I got to face paint stripes on his face while it was awarded to him. Kevin and I are so proud of him! He also did a skit with his den and ended the night under a balloon drop with all his friends. We had so much fun and love Scouting!

London's Run

At the end of January our family took part in London's Run out at Schnepf Farms. It was our first race and everyone was so excited to be there. It was such a beautiful morning and everyone wore their Blake's Miracle t-shirts in honor of Blake! Kevin and Collin crossed the finish line together and Kylie, Logan and I watched and cheered them on. It was a great morning!

Collin's First Pinewood Derby

Collin just started Cub Scouts and his very first activity was the Pinewood Derby. It was such a fun way for him to start scouting! Collin and his dad had a great time figuring out what kind of car he wanted to build and then after they had it all cut out, Collin gave it an awesome paint job. He named it the "Road Warrior". He had so much fun racing it and we loved watching and cheering him on.

An Afternoon at the Park

I love Arizona winters! The weather is so beautiful that you just have to get out and enjoy it. Over winter break, while Collin was out of school, we tried to get to the park as much as we could. Kylie loves the swings, Collin likes to play tag and Logan just loves to be outside and run as fast as his little legs can go.

2009 Year in Review

I finally did it! I created a blog for our family. I've been meaning to do it for a long time now and just never got around to it. So I figured, ok this is the first day of the new year, there's no better day than today. For my first post I thought it would be fun to highlight some of the fun things our family did in the year 2009,kind of like a year in review. Ok,ready? Here goes...

Kevin kicked off the year 2009 by taking a motorcycle trip with my brother Don and some friends. My sister-in-law Jen and I got them Harley Davidson motorcycle rentals for Christmas and they went riding on new year's day. They had a blast and Kevin says he can't wait to get one of his own. (hmm....)

In January, February and March this year you could find us taking some fun ATV trips. Collin got his own ATV for Christmas and is amazing to watch as he takes off on it and conquers any hill he wants to climb. We love going to The Rolls and Sugarloaf. We did a lot of day trips with aunts, uncles, and cousins. We had a blast!

March found Kylie participating in SWIMkids USA's Annual Blake's Miracle Swim-a-thon. She raised donations by the number of seconds she could float in the pool all by herself. She was so proud of herself and so were we as she raised almost $200 for her cousin Blakes's charity, Blake's Miracle.

Were were able to spend spring break this March with Kim and Bryan's family in Utah at Pinewoods Resort. We love visiting the Romneys and try to visit as often as we can. The kids had so much fun playing in the snow, sledding, snowmobiling and being with cousins.

We planted a garden for the first time this spring. We got some starter plants that grew really well and we even managed to keep them alive until they were big enough to give us some yummy things to eat.

Spring this year also found us...

Hunting for Easter eggs.

Celebrating Collin's 7th birthday with a party at our house in The Game Truck. He played video games with his friends, had pizza and jumped on the trampoline. It was an awesome party. (His words)

Going on the Father and Son's campout and sleeping in the car instead of in a tent.

And playing peek-a-boo with Logan.

As soon as school let out for the summer in May our family headed to Oceanside, CA for our annual week at the beach. All of the Godfrey family goes together and it is ALWAYS a blast! We play on the beach, build sand castles, swim in the ocean and the pool and take excursions to the pier. We really look forward to it every year.

This summer we also:

Got to watch Kylie in her very first dance recital with Artistic Motion.

Collin took swimming and diving lessons.

We got to spend the 4th of July at Pinewoods with the Romneys. We rode ATVs, went hiking, had a pancake breakfast at the fire station, got to actually be in the 4th of July parade through Duck Creek Village and then watch fireworks that night. We had so much fun we didn't want to leave.

In July Kylie turned 3 and we had a family swim party at our house. She was so excited to be having a birthday party. She talked about it for months before her birthday and felt very special being the center of attention for the afternoon.

Our summer ended in August when school started back up again and Collin began 2nd grade. He looked cool all decked out in his new school clothes and backpack.

We said goodbye to our lab Echo this fall. She was 12 years old and even though she was in bad health at the end she could still find the energy to bark at the door and steal food out of the garbage. We love you Echo!

In September we celebrated Logan's 1st birthday. We had a family swim party and let him pig out on birthday cake, he was so cute and didn't hesitate to dig right in.

In September and October we also...

Watched Kylie perform in our Ward Talent Show with her friends.

We got to watch Collin and his cousin Austin play flag football games every Saturday. Kevin and my brother Floyd coached the team. It was Collin's first year playing football and the team finished 3rd place in their league. Collin did so great, we were so proud of him and just really happy that he had so much fun.

Carving pumpkins this year with the kids was really cute. No one wanted to scoop out the guts.

Everyone dressed up for Halloween this year including me. All of the family got together and we had our traditional dinner next door in the Godfrey's driveway and then after dinner we all took the kids trick-or-treating.

In November we kicked off the beginning of our ATVing season with a big family day at The Rolls. We set up our usual camp and then took turns riding the trails all day. Everyone had a great time and got VERY dirty.

The rest of November and December have passed in a blur. Our Thanksgiving and Christmas pictures are still on my camera, so I think I'll just have to say that we had a wonderful holiday season! Thanksgiving was filled with wonderful food and family and Christmas was filled with all the spirit and magic we could create for our children and our family.

This wasn't everything we did this year, I could go on and on forever, but I think this is as much as I can fit in one post for now. Whew...

Happy New Year to all our family and friends and I look forward to the exciting world of blogging in the year 2010!
